When I was growing up there weren’t as many resources available about learning disabilities as there are now. To make researching easier, we’ve put together a list of websites that might be helpful—organized by topic.
As many of us know, self-esteem issues of poor academic performance and challenging social relationships are common for people with learning disabilities. This often leads to relentless patterns of negative thinking, expecting that certain activities will always be problematic. I’ve found mindfulness practice to be useful…especially working with difficult, yet all too common emotions such as fear and anxiety. Mindfulness is the practice of non-judgmental, moment-to-moment awareness of daily life experiences. It allows us, over time, to recognize that everything in life changes and that we have options in how we respond to life’s challenges.
