The Read Me Differently Initiative continues to grow through collaborations with amazing, high impact organizations. Today we’re very pleased to announce our latest partner, the Parents Education Network (PEN)! PEN is a coalition of parents collaborating with educators, students and the community to empower and bring academic and life success to students with learning and attention differences (LD). Since 2003 PEN has worked against the isolation and frustration that many parents feel when their children are grappling with LD by offering support groups, conferences, and valuable resources.
“I appreciate the honest and heartfelt way that Sarah is able to share the beautiful and complicated relationships within her family. This film’s honesty creates openings for empathy, straightforward dialogue and understanding for other families dealing with learning differences,” said Laura Maloney, Executive Director of PEN. “It shows them that they are not alone. Read Me Differently is a wonderful tool for starting conversations within your community or family.”
Through this partnership, PEN will organize screenings of Read Me Differently at national and regional conferences and make the film available as a training resource at various schools. Members of PEN will also have access to DVD copies and a film guide at a 25% discount.
“We are excited to partner with PEN because of the thoughtful work they do to empower parents and equip them with the latest resources to help their children.” said director Sarah Entine. “We are honored that Read Me Differently is included in their highly regarded toolbox of support, and to have PEN’s powerful voice join our call to action.”
The Read Me Differently Initiative aims to increase dialogue and understanding around LD, at home and in the community, through key partnerships with leading groups in the field.
